“Michigan law for years allowed victims of sexual assault to file civil suits for up to three years after the incident occurred. A new law enacted in the wake of the Nassar scandal extends the civil and criminal statutes of limitations, giving sexual assault victims more time to report and sue their accusers. Michigan’s new law gives Nassar victims who were minors at the time of their assaults a retroactive right to sue for abuses dating back to 1997.”
